MANILA, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Six died and six were injured when a fire broke out in a residential area in Tondo district in Manila City before dawn on Thursday, a firefighter said.
John Joseph Jalique, the chief investigator of the Manila Fire Department, said the dead include a mother and her three children who were trapped inside their house. Two others were found dead in other houses, he added.
The fire broke out at 2:38 a.m. local time and was declared under control shortly before 4 a.m., he said.
It was declared fire out at around 7:14 a.m., he added.
According to Jalique, at least 50 houses of around 100 families were affected by the fire.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. Enditem
