TUNIS, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia announced on Saturday its decision not to participate in the upcoming Berlin Conference on Libya.

Tunisia on Friday received an official invitation from German Chancellor Angela Merkel to the conference scheduled for Sunday.

In a statement released by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tunisia expressed its gratitude to Germany for the invitation but decided not to participate in the conference as it did not participate in the preliminary process that started last September.

Tunisia also reiterated its commitment to not interfering with Libya's internal affairs and working to find peaceful solution to end the bloodshed in the neighboring country.

The Berlin Conference on Libya will be attended by both parties of the Libyan conflict as well as a number of representatives from countries in and beyond the region.

The conference aims to end the armed conflict between the two Libyan rivals and resume the political dialogue in the North African country. Enditem
