ORLANDO, Florida, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras recovered from a goal down to defeat New York City FC in the final of the Florida Cup here on Saturday.

Canadian striker Osaze de Rosario put NYC ahead on the stroke of halftime before Lucas Lima and Willian struck second-half goals at the Exploria Stadium.

Palmeiras head coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo said the pre-season friendly tournament left him upbeat about his team's prospects this year.

"The expectations are high and we're confident," the former Real Madrid and Brazil boss told reporters.

He added that he did not expect to spend heavily on new signings in the coming weeks and promised to promote players from the club's youth academy.

"We've made a decision to give opportunities to the kids," he said. "We're also hoping to bring in some new players, but only where we really need them. Now we have a base that is ready and that makes it easier for us to know who we need to sign."

Palmeiras will begin their 2020 domestic season with a visit to Ituano in the first round of the Paulista championship on Wednesday.

New York FC's next competitive fixture will be the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League round of 16 clash against San Carlos in Costa Rica on February 20. Enditem
