TOKYO -- The Japanese Diet opened Monday with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe vowing to tackle a number of issues facing the country, including the rapidly aging and shrinking population, as well as diplomatic issues that have hampered relations with South Korea.

SEOUL -- South Koreans' individual tour to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) would not be subject to the UN sanctions against Pyongyang, Yonhap news agency reported on Monday, citing the unification ministry of South Korea.

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia is sending back an additional 110 containers of plastic waste to source countries after having successfully returned 150, the government said on Monday.

The Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change said in a statement that 150 containers with estimated 3,737 metric tonnes of plastic waste had been returned to the source countries, mostly developed countries such as the United States, Britain, Japan, Canada, Spain and France. JAKARTA -- Rescuers recovered nine bodies and were searching another missing person after a suspension bridge collapsed in Indonesia's western Bengkulu province on Sunday, Head of the Search and Rescue Office of the province Abdul Malik said on Monday.
