TOKYO, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened essentially flat Wednesday as some investors bought back issues oversold a day earlier.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 3.23 points, or 0.01 percent, from Tuesday to 23,867.79.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 0.50 point, or 0.03 percent, at 1,734.47.
Precision instrument and real estate issues led notable gainers, while iron and steel, and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
