GABORONE, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Botswana and China benefited and continue to benefit from each other's success in many ways over the past 45 years, Botswana's Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation Unity Dow said on Tuesday night.

Dow made this observation on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in Gaborone.

On Jan. 6, 1975, Botswana and China established diplomatic relations driven by the desire to forge a strong partnership.

"We have benefited and continue to benefit from each other's success in many ways," observed Dow when delivering a keynote address at a ceremony marking "a historic milestone of a lifelong, meaningful and sustained partnership between our two countries."

"It is thanks, in no small measure, to our shared commitment of ensuring that human development and poverty reduction remain central to our economic development strategies to help our peoples prosper," she said.

Since human development, poverty reduction and job creation remain the guiding objectives of the two nations' cooperation, Dow said Botswana and China shared a similar outlook and pragmatic approach to development thereby rendering the two countries natural partners. Enditem
