MAPUTO, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on Wednesday swore in here all the ten provincial governors elected in the general and provincial assembly elections in October 2019.

The sworn-in governors are all members of the ruling party Frelimo, who won the first direct election on provincial governors in the country's history, through the head-of-list system in provincial assembly elections.

Provincial governors' direct election came within the scope of the specific revision of the Constitution of the republic, as a result of the political agreements on decentralization for effective peace between the government and the main opposition Renamo.

The new cycle of governance will start a paradigm with the concept of decentralization, said Nyusi at the swearing-in ceremony, adding that the new administrative reforms aim to make it inclusive and efficient in serving the citizens.

The president also called on the governors not to always rely on the guidance from the central government, and to be good managers of the public affairs, as well as to fight corruption effectively. Enditem
