SINGAPORE, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.6 percent, or 19.37 points, to close at 3,234.56.
A total of 2.19 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.44 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.07 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 285 to 152.
The STI index went up 0.21 percent, or 6.76 points, to close at 3,253.93 on Wednesday. Enditem
