MADRID, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Spain Passion, a Chinese television series shot in Spain, was presented here on Thursday at FITUR Screen, as part of the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (FITUR).

Produced by Spanish production company Think, Spain Passion will be broadcast in China with the aim of attracting more Chinese tourists to Spain.

The series consists of eight episodes, each 45 minutes long, and tells the story of two young Chinese girls traveling through Spain with a young Spaniard who represents the Spanish way of understanding and enjoying life.

The TV show aims to show Spain from a different angle, and highlights the Spanish way of enjoying life by showcasing the country's natural and cultural heritage, rich gastronomy and traditions.

The girls' journey through Spain will be broadcast on digital platforms like Twitter, WeChat and Instagram to reach a segment of urban population in their 20s and 30s.

"In the series, during the journey, we were able to find our destiny, not only from the outside but also on the inside, and little by little we formed a very strong bond between the three, it's a very nice project," Yang Ziyi, an actress playing one of the two Chinese girls, told Xinhua.

Shooting started in May last year and was shot in Spain's most popular destinations -- Madrid, Valladolid, Mallorca, Menorca, Cantabria, La Rioja, Bilbao, Barcelona, Malaga, Granada and Seville.

"It's been a very fun experience because part of the cast and technical team was Chinese, so the cultural mix of traditions and languages while shooting was a lot fun," Angel Tapia, executive producer at Think Production Company, told Xinhua.

The series will be mainly in Mandarin with Mandarin and English subtitles and will start airing in the second semester of 2020, according to Tapia.

FITUR Screen, held during the Jan. 22-26 FITUR, is a platform to connect the tourism and cinema industries with the goal of spreading knowledge about screen tourism, fostering commercial exchanges between the various actors involved and formulating proposals for the future development of this sector in Spain.
