ALGIERS, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Foreign ministers of neighboring countries of Libya on Thursday met in Algiers as they urged for a comprehensive political solution to the crisis hitting the North African nation.

The meeting involved the foreign ministers of Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Chad and Niger.

The Algiers meeting discussed the outcome of Berlin conference on Libya held on January 19, in a bid to provide support to Libya, according to a final declaration issued at the meeting.

The declaration urged the Libyan warring parties to engage in the path of UN-backed political dialogue, with the participation of the African Union and the neighboring countries of Libya, to reach a "comprehensive solution to this crisis away from any foreign interference."

The meeting comes after the recent Berlin conference that agreed on limiting foreign interference in Libya.

Libya has been mired in a civil war since the fall of the former leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011. Enditem
