SINGAPORE, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.17 percent, or 5.46 points, to close at 3,240.02.
A total of 1.11 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 760.13 million Singapore dollars (about 562.93 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 179 to 155.
The STI index went down 0.6 percent, or 19.37 points, to close at 3,234.56 on Thursday.
It is a half-day trading day on Friday for stock trading at Singapore Exchange due to the Chinese New Year holiday. Enditem
