DAVOS, Switzerland -- Fabrizio Hochschild Drummond, the special adviser on the Preparations for the Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Unites Nations (UN), said here Friday that he wishes to hear more voices from China in an ongoing global conversation launched by the international agency.

"We have a UN representative in China and they certainly are planning activities, and we want to hear from China what the Chinese people think through our platforms, what are the expectations from China and how we wanted people especially Chinese youth to fully participate in that conversation," Hochschild told Xinhua, describing China as a "tremendously important actor in the UN and in shaping the future."

YAOUNDE -- "Thanks to the determination of our defence and security forces to protect our fellow citizens in the northwest and southwest (Anglophone regions), the situation has significantly improved," Cameroonian President Paul Biya said here on Friday in a speech during the 37th graduation ceremony of the Combined Services Military Academy.

ADDIS ABABA -- Kisut Gebregziabher, Spokesperson for the United Nations Refugee Agency's Office in Ethiopia, told Xinhua in an exclusive interview on late Friday that the UN refugee agency and its partners "are appealing for robust international support for refugee operations in Ethiopia with the launch of a funding appeal for 658 million U.S. dollars to assist over 735,000 refugees and more than half a million Ethiopian hosts in 2020."

"International support and solidarity is vital to ensure the implementation of the wide range of rights granted to refugees by Ethiopia during the last three years," Gebregziabher said.

SKOPJE -- President of the European Council Charles Michel said here on Friday that the future of North Macedonia is in the European Union (EU) and that he will develop strategy for opening the accession negotiations process.

"The message I want to send with this visit is that there is great interest for including the EU in the processes, that the future of North Macedonia is European and that we have to continue with the dialogue in order to reach decision," Michel said at a joint press conference after meeting President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski.
