ALGIERS, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday said he agreed with his visiting Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to support the outcome of the Berlin conference on Libya in a bid to reach sustainable cease-fire there.

"There is full agreement with President Erdogan to endorse what was decided in Berlin," Tebboune told a joint press conference with the Turkish leader in Algiers.

"We strive for peace together with daily and accurate follow-up of all developments on the ground" in Libya, he added.

For his part, Erdogan said "Algeria's security and stability are part of Turkey's," on the grounds that Algeria is "a factor of stability and peace in this difficult stage the region is going through."

"The developments taking place in Libya directly concern Algeria, as it is facing difficulties on its border, including terrorism and illegal migration," he added.

Erdogan stressed that Libya should not be let to turn into "an arena for terrorist organizations and war barons."

"It is not possible to reach a solution for the crisis in Libya through military options, and therefore Turkey is making "contacts with countries of the region and international players to achieve a permanent cease-fire in Libya ahead of returning to the table of political dialogue," he said.

Erdogan expected that Algeria will have "valuable and constructive contributions to the efforts being done by the international community to stop the bloodshed in Libya."

The Turkish leader arrived earlier in Algiers on Sunday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart to boost bilateral cooperation and discuss current regional and international issues. Enditem
