TOKYO, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Monday morning amid a lack of fresh trading cues, with some exporter and cyclical issues retreating owing to the safe-haven-yen's rise against the U.S. dollar.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 455.12 points, or 1.91 percent, from Friday to 23,372.06.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 26.48 points, or 1.53 percent, at 1,703.96.
Along with exporters, air and marine-linked transportation issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
