MOSCOW, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday he hopes that Russia and Indonesia will be able to sign a strategic partnership declaration this year.

"Moscow considers Indonesia as one of Russia's most important partners in the Asia-Pacific region, and cooperation with that country is based on friendship and mutual trust," the ministry's Zvezda broadcasting service quoted Shoigu as saying.

The signing of the strategic partnership declaration will be an important milestone in bilateral relations, Shoigu said at talks with his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto.

The Russian Defense Ministry is ready to coordinate joint actions for the development of Russian-Indonesian relations, including in the field of military and military-technical cooperation, as well as in a multilateral format, Shoigu said. Enditem
