PRAGUE, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Czech Republic received 119.9 billion Czech crowns (5.23 billion U.S. dollars) in funds from the European Union (EU) while contributing 51.4 billion crowns (2.24 billion U.S. dollars) to the union's budget, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.

The gain from contributions can mainly be attributed to subsidies from the Structural Funds, the Cohesion Fund, and the Common Agricultural Policy which totaled to 115.7 billion crowns (5.05 billion U.S. dollars. Other non-specified EU programs accounted for the rest of the generated revenue.

Since its accession to the EU in 2014, the Czech Republic contributed 616.8 billion crowns (26.92 billion U.S. dollars) to the EU's budget while receiving 1.43 trillion crowns (62.40 billion U.S. dollars), said the ministry.

However, the Czech Republic has been gradually increasing its contributions to the EU budget due to its general growing volume and the strengthening of its economic maturity within the EU, according to the ministry. Enditem
