MANILA -- An outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in Davao Occidental province in southern Philippines has killed more than 1,000 pigs, local officials in the Mindanao region said on Saturday.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian troops on Saturday left for Australia to help extinguish bushfires after the neighboring nation declared a state of emergency.

KABUL -- The Afghan security forces have arrested six people affiliated with the Taliban and Islamic State (IS) in three eastern provinces, the state-run news agency reported Saturday.

MANILA -- Three soldiers, including two army officers, were killed in a shooting inside a military camp in Patikul town, Sulu province, in the southern Philippines late on Friday night, an army spokesman said on Saturday.
Philippine Army spokesman Colonel Ramon Zagala said the fatal shooting broke out around 11:00 p.m. on Friday when Corporal Jack Indap, who was allegedly drunk, shot dead the two officers, Major Rael Gabot and First Lieutenant Ryan Lamoste, after a heated argument.(Philippines-Army-Accident) Enditem
