RIGA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The output of Latvia's manufacturing industry increased by 2 percent in 2019 compared with a year before, the national statistics office said on Monday.

The Baltic country's overall industrial output grew 0.8 percent last year, as mining and quarrying fell 5 percent and electricity and gas supply was down 4.4 percent.

In 2019, manufacturing growth in Latvia was driven by a 13.5 percent increase in the production of finished metal products, a 9.3 percent rise in repairs and installation of machinery and equipment, an 8.8 percent growth in the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical equipment and a 16 percent increase in the production of electrical equipment.

Of Latvia's 22 manufacturing segments, output grew in 10 segments last year, statistics showed.
