RIGA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The output of Latvia's manufacturing industry increased by 2 percent in 2019 compared with a year before, the national statistics office said on Monday.
The Baltic country's overall industrial output grew 0.8 percent last year, as mining and quarrying fell 5 percent and electricity and gas supply was down 4.4 percent.
In 2019, manufacturing growth in Latvia was driven by a 13.5 percent increase in the production of finished metal products, a 9.3 percent rise in repairs and installation of machinery and equipment, an 8.8 percent growth in the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical equipment and a 16 percent increase in the production of electrical equipment.
Of Latvia's 22 manufacturing segments, output grew in 10 segments last year, statistics showed.
Meanwhile, output fell by 5.5 percent in the manufacture of clothing, by 3.7 percent in manufacture of automobiles and 2.8 percent in furniture production. Enditem
