German shares gain 0.69 pct at start of trading on Tuesday

BERLIN, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index increasing by 90.42 points, or 0.69 percent, to 13,135.61 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's largest 30 companies at the start of trading was industrial gas producer Linde, increasing 1.72 percent, followed by chipmaker and semiconductor manufacturer Infineon with 1.23 percent and financial service provider Wirecard with 1.09 percent.

On Monday, U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs rated Linde as "neutral" and set a price target of 195 euros for the German gas producer. Shares of Linde were trading around 190 euros on Tuesday morning, about 32 percent higher than a year ago.

The shares of BMW fell by 0.17 percent. The German car manufacturer was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Tuesday.

The euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.106 U.S. dollars, decreasing slightly by 0.02 percent on Tuesday morning. Enditem
