MOSCOW, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed into law a bill legalizing the post of deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, created for former Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The bill was adopted by the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, on Jan. 23 and endorsed by the Federation Council, the upper house, on Jan. 30.
On Jan. 16, Putin signed a decree appointing Medvedev to the then non-existent post of deputy chairman of the Security Council.
Medvedev and his government resigned on Jan. 15, with Putin appointing the former head of the Russian Federal Tax Service Mikhail Mishustin as the new prime minister a day later. Enditem
