MANILA -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte wants Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin to notify Washington about the intention of Manila to terminate the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) between the United States and the Philippines, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said on Friday.

"President Duterte is instructing Executive Secretary (Salvador) Medialdea to tell Foreign Affairs Secretary Locsin to send the notice of termination to the U.S. government," said Panelo in a text message to reporters. (Philippines-U.S.-VFA)

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's mandatory quarantine for all inbound travelers from the Chinese mainland will take effect on Saturday, and violators will be fined and imprisoned, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said on Friday.

BANGKOK -- One airport worker was killed and another one was injured following a crash between a domestic airliner and its tow truck at Don Mueang international airport in Bangkok on Friday.

According to Don Mueang airport director Samphan Khutharanon, the Nok Air plane accidentally crashed with the tow truck at work near an aircraft parking area where it was about to pick up passengers, killing the driver of the tow truck and injuring a worker. (Thailand-Airplane-Crash)

TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday pledged to advance bilateral peace treaty talks with Russia at an annual rally seeking for the return of four disputed islands off the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido.
