Tokyo stocks retreat in morning after Wall Street decline

TOKYO, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated on Monday morning tracking a slide in U.S. shares late last week amid continued uncertainty about the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 49.69 points, or 0.21 percent, from Friday to 23,778.29.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, decreased 6.66 points, or 0.38 percent, at 1,725.48.

Marine transportation, electric appliance and pharmaceutical issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
