BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.51 percent, at 2,890.49 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.1 percent higher at 10,728.46 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed lower on Monday. Reliance Industries (RIL), HDFC, ICICI Bank and L&T contributed the most to the index's losses.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 40,979.62, 162.23 points or 0.39 percent down compared to its previous close at 41,141.85.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 103.97 points on Monday, down 0.94 points or 0.90 percent from the previous trading session.

Prices of 52 stocks went up, 71 stocks dropped, while 244 stocks remained unchanged.

SINGAPORE -- Singaporean stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.58 percent, or 18.33 points, to close at 3,163.15.

The STI index went down 1.55 percent, or 50.07 points, to close at 3,181.48 on last Friday.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,542.80 down 11.69 points or 0.75 percent, and the Emas was at 11980.94 down 79.23 points or 0.72 percent.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index up 3.29 points, or 0.45 percent, to close at 737.03.

A total of 3,242 shares worth 23.25 million riels (5,713 U.S. dollars) were traded, the CSX said.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 162.93 points, or 0.59 percent, to 27,241.34 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 27,044.88 and 27,314.64. Turnover totaled 107.75 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 13.89 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower on Monday due to market concerns.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average decreased 142.00 points, or 0.60 percent, from Friday at 23,685.98.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 10.88 points, or 0.49 percent, to settle at 2,201.07. Trading volume stood at 600.5 million shares worth 5.3 trillion won (4.5 billion U.S. dollars).

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market's indicator, the S&P/NZX 50 index, dropped by 0.5 percent to 11,703 on Monday.

The drop was led by New Talisman Gold Mines Limited, which went down by 12.5 percent to 0.007 NZ dollars (0.004 U.S. dollars), while Moa Group Limited jumped by 11.54 percent to 0.29 NZ dollars.

SYDNEY -- Australian shares finished lower on Monday, with investors wary as reporting season rolls on.
