BERLIN, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index increasing by 110.71 points, or 0.82 percent, opening at 13.604,74 points.
The biggest winner among Germany's largest 30 companies at the start of trading was Germany's biggest airline Lufthansa, increasing 1.62 percent, followed by dialysis specialist Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) with 1.37 percent and car manufacturer Volkswagen with 1.35 percent.
Shares of Beiersdorf fell by 0.14 percent. The German consumer goods company was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Tuesday.
German car manufacturer Daimler presented its full-year results for 2019 on Tuesday, reporting a "weakened" net profit of 2.7 billion euros (2.95 billion U.S. dollars). Shares of Daimler were trading at around 44 euros on Tuesday morning, about 7 percent lower than one year ago.
"While our results in 2019 reflect ongoing strong customer demand for our attractive products, we cannot be satisfied with our bottom line", said Daimler CEO Ola Kaellenius.
The euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.0913 U.S. dollars, increasing slightly by 0.01 percent on Tuesday morning. Enditem
