NEW DELHI, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and another received gun shots when unidentified assailants opened firing at the convoy of a newly-elected Delhi lawmaker, a local cop confirmed on Wednesday.

The shooting incident occurred late Tuesday night in south Delhi's Kishangarh area.

Naresh Yadav, the lawmaker who was returning from a temple along with his supporters after registering a spectacular victory in the just-concluded state polls, said one of his supporters died and another one with gunshot injuries was admitted to a hospital.

The lawmaker belonging to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), or Common Man Party, had a narrow escape as he too was in the same car which was attacked by the assailants. This was his second consecutive victory in Delhi polls.

The assailants are yet to be identified, said the local police. Enditem
