RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela international winger Yeferson Soteldo has ended speculation about his future by renewing his contract with Santos, the Brazilian club said on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Atletico Mineiro, whose new manager is former Venezuela national team boss Rafael Dudamel.
"There are going to be good times ahead with our No. 10 on the pitch," Santos said in a social media post. "(We) extended his contract until December 2023."
Soteldo has made 52 appearances and scored 12 goals for Santos since joining the club from Universidad de Chile in January 2019.
Capped 17 times for Venezuela's national team, he is expected to be a key member of the Vintotinto squad for their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign beginning in March and this year's Copa America. Enditem
