ULAN BATOR, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed in a home fire in eastern Mongolia on Wednesday evening, the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported Thursday.

The fire occurred in a traditional round-shaped dwelling, or ger, in Erdenetsagaan soum of Sukhbaatar province, killing two parents in their early 30s and their 14-year-old daughter, according to the NEMA.

The father was able to rescue the couple's two other children -- a 12-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter -- before his death, the agency said, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze.

Over 400 house fires have happened across the country so far this year, killing more than 20 people, the NEMA said, urging citizens to prevent possible fires in their own homes. Enditem
