UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The UN Development Coordination Office has announced Pang Sen of China as the new Resident Coordinator in Namibia, a UN spokesperson said Thursday.

The UN office also announced Ingrid Macdonald of Australia as the new Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Sezin Sinanoglou of Turkey as the new Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Tajikistan, according to Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Resident coordinators seek to boost the development coordination among UN agencies, funds and programmes, which is "fundamental to support countries in this Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals," said the spokesman.

"We are also pleased that we continue to have full gender parity among all our resident coordinators, covering 162 countries and territories," he added.

These appointments follow confirmations from the respective governments, according to Dujarric. Enditem
