RABAT, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan city of Fez has been chosen to host the World Summit of the Alliance of Civilizations from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2, the High Representative of the UN Alliance of Civilizations said Friday.

"Fez was chosen in view of its centuries-old aspect and its spiritual symbolism," Miguel Angel Moratinos told the press after his talks with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.

The summit, the first of its kind in Africa, will coincide with the 15th anniversary of the creation of the UN Alliance of Civilizations.

The action of the alliance since its inception will be evaluated during the international meeting, and preparations will be made for an action program for humanity, according to Moratinos. Enditem
