DHAKA, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- A total of 61 people have died in parts of Bangladesh due to cold-related diseases since November.
The figure was reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Ministry of Health on Monday.
The state agency report showed 22 people died due to Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) across Bangladesh from Nov. 1 to Feb. 23.
During the same period, according to the report, 39 others died from diarrhea and other diseases.
The official data also showed 93,828 patients suffered from acute respiratory infection while Diarrhoea affected 218,878 people.
Other cold-related diseases affected 236,407 people in this period, said the state agency.
Winter season in Bangladesh lasts from December to February with people in parts of the country specially in the northern region facing hard time when sickness is rampant among poor and the floating section. Enditem
