RAMALLAH, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian Foreign Ministry hailed Tuesday the proposal on the two-state solution presented by Belgium to the current president of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Belgium's proposal on the two-state solution is based on the previous related UN resolutions in accordance with the international law, the ministry said in a press statement.
"The proposal expresses an international consensus that sticks to a peace process in the Middle East based on the principle of the two-state solution that is based on the international resolutions," said the statement.
It added that the proposal of Belgium "reiterates the Palestinian people's right of self-determination and establishing their independent Palestinian state on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital."
The ministry expressed its hope that the United States would accept the proposal. Enditem
