ALGIERS, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Algeria and Qatar on Tuesday confirmed that they share convergent views on prevailing regional and international issues.

The remarks came as Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani wrapped up a one-day visit to the North African nation at the invitation of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Upon the end of the talks with the emir of Qatar, Tebboune told reporters that "there is complete convergence between the two countries on all economic related issues, in addition to political, regional and international ones."

The Algerian president further expressed his hope to maintain this convergence which serves the common interest of the two nations.

The Qatari emir stressed that his talks with Tebboune were "constructive and fruitful," noting that he would work on "developing bilateral relations in economic and investment fields."

Qatar has a couple of investments in Algeria, particularly in the field of steel, with the ongoing construction of a mega steel plant in the province of Jijel. Enditem
