Moderate quake jolts eastern Indonesia

JAKARTA, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- A 5.5-magnitude quake struck off North Maluku province in the eastern part of Indonesia on Saturday, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said.

The quake jolted at 4:28 p.m. Jakarta time (0928 GMT) with the epicenter at 124 km northwest of Daruba village in the province and in the depth at 141 km under the seabed.

The quake did not potentially trigger tsunami.

Four people were killed, dozens of others were injured and over 3,000 people were displaced when an earthquake of 7.2 magnitude struck off the province in July, 2019, according to the National Disaster Management Agency.
