RABAT, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Morocco announced on Saturday that nine new cases of COVID-19 were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of the disease in the North African country to 17.
The new cases involve eight Moroccan immigrants residing in Spain, Italy and France, who entered Morocco between Feb. 24 and March 12, said the Ministry of Health in a statement.
The cases were recorded in the cities of Tetouan, Rabat, Casablanca, Fes and Khouribga.
Morocco on Saturday expanded its measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 by banning mass gatherings, including weddings, family parties and Friday prayers.
The country also extended its flight bans to Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal, in addition to an earlier announcement suspending flights to Italy, France, Spain and Algeria. Enditem
