TBILISI, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Georgia Saturday confirmed five new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infected individuals to 30.

The updated data was published at an official website launched by the government of Georgia, which aims to inform the population of the overall epidemiological situation in the country.

Earlier on Saturday, the Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital said that the first individual who tested positive for COVID-19 back on Feb. 26 after returning from Iran, has now tested negative.

However, there are still 439 individuals in quarantine and 64 persons under hospital supervision, according to the country's National Center for Disease Control.

Meanwhile, Georgia announced Saturday that it decided to close borders with neighboring Armenia and Azerbaijan for ten days to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Georgian government has moved into an emergency, round-the-clock regime after the World Health Organisation declared the outbreak of the coronavirus a pandemic on Wednesday. Enditem
