ACCRA, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced enhanced measures, including a ban on public gatherings and school closure from Monday to contain and combat the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
The public gatherings include conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events, and religious events such as services in churches and mosques.
This followed the announcement of four new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, raising the number of reported cases in Ghana to six.
During the closure of schools, however, pupils who have registered for the final exams in basic school would be allowed to continue their preparations for the exams to be held next month, but under strict rules of social distancing and hygiene.
Akufo-Addo said, "Let us all put our shoulders to the wheel, and I am confident that together we shall overcome this challenge." Enditem
