SINGAPORE, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 1.65 percent, or 41.24 points, to close at 2,454.53.
A total of 1.77 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 2.56 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.8 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 372 to 159.
The STI index went down 5.25 percent, or 138.23 points, to close at 2,495.77 on Monday. Enditem
