Iraq reports 15 new coronavirus cases, 1 more death

BAGHDAD, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Health Ministry on Thursday confirmed one more death from COVID-19 and 15 new cases, bringing the total number of the infected to 192.

The new cases included four in the capital Baghdad, five in Najaf, three in Babil and one each in the provinces of Dhi Qar, Basra and Karbala, the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, the ministry said that 11 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed, including four in Baghdad, two in Karbala and one each in the provinces of Najaf, Basra, Diwaniyah, Muthanna and Wasit each.

So far, a total of 192 cases have been confirmed, 13 of whom have died and 49 others have recovered, according to the ministry.

To help Iraq cope with the coronavirus spread, a Chinese team of seven experts has been working with their Iraqi counterparts since March 7 in the fight against the viral respiratory disease, which has been under control in China through a nationwide campaign. Enditem
