LIBREVILLE, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Gabon reported its first coronavirus-related death on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health.

The victim is a Gabonese in his 50s with diabetes and high blood pressure, who arrived in Gabon on an Air France flight on March 15. After having symptoms of the coronavirus, he went to a polyclinic "without informing the medical workers of his staying abroad in a country where the epidemic was already declared", said Obiang Ndong.

The victim died in a military hospital where confirmed and suspected cases are taken care of.

All those present when this patient arrived (in the polyclinic) are now in quarantine in order to limit the spread of the virus and transmission to other individuals, said Obiang Ndong who reminded local residents not to go to a health center when they have symptoms of COVID-19. Rather, they must call a toll-free number (1410) in order to be supported by specialized teams.

Gabon now has 4 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Enditem
