ISLAMABAD, March 20 (Xinhua) -- A coal mine blast in Pakistan's southwest Digari area of Quetta district killed seven workers and left four others injured on Friday, local media and an official said.

Sultan Khan, general secretary of the Pakistan Central Mines Labor Federation, told media that the mine collapsed after the huge blast caused by gas leakage.

Local rescue teams rushed to the site, pulled out the bodies and injured, and shifted them to a hospital in Quetta city, the capital of southwest Balochistan province.

All the deceased and the wounded belonged to Ghotki district of the neighboring Sindh province.

According to statistics from the federation, averagely around 200 deaths in coal mine accidents are reported every year in Pakistan. Enditem
