Mauritius reports 1st COVID-19 death

ANTANANARIVO, March 21 (Xinhua) -- The Minister of Health of Mauritius Kailesh Jagutpal confirmed on Saturday the first case of death related to novel coronavirus.

The dead patient, said by Mr. Jagutpal, came to Mauritius from Belgium on Feb. 21.

On March 14, he visited a local private clinic for symptoms of fever and cough. He was transferred and admitted to a local hospital soon afterwards and then transferred to Souillac hospital, but he died eventually on March 18.

According to Mr. Jagutpal, the patient has been tested on March 17 for COVID-19, only received negative test result back. "On March 18, the medical staff did the test once again before she dead, and the result come out today shows positive of COVID-19.

Mr. Jagutpal also revealed another confirmed case, which brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Mauritius to 12. Enditem
