BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Brunei has received donations of medical supplies and medical equipment from China's Zhejiang Hengyi Group Co., Ltd. as part of Hengyi's corporate social responsibility to help assist the Brunei government in tackling the COVID-19 infection in the country.

Chen Liancai, chief executive officer of Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd, which is running a petrochemical and refinery plant in the sultanate, presented the donations to Haji Mohammad Isham, Brunei's minister of health during a handover ceremony, according to a press release from Brunei health ministry on Saturday.

Hengyi Industries is a joint petrochemical venture between China's Zhejiang Hengyi Group and Damai Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary under the Brunei government's Strategic Development Capital Fund.

According to Brunei's Ministry of Health, the donations, which will come in batches, are shipped directly to Brunei from China. The first batch of donation including five units of ventilators and 50 units of electric hospital beds, is scheduled to arrive next week and will be distributed to the country's hospitals and isolation centers next week.

Other medical supplies and equipment will come in at different batches. Hengyi Group hopes that the donations can help provide additional support to Brunei in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Enditem
