PRAGUE, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The number of novel coronavirus cases rose to 1,047 in the Czech Republic as of Sunday noon, passing the 1,000-case mark for the first time, according to data from the Health Ministry.
Six people have recovered and no death has been reported so far, said the ministry, adding that a total of 15,584 tests have been carried out.
The first three cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country on March 1.
Given the rapid spread of the virus, the Czech government has been tightening its preventive measures step by step. Currently, a state of emergency with strict restriction on free movement is underway. Trips from and to the country has been banned almost completely. Enditem
