YANGON, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar government has named the United League of Arakan (ULA), also known as Arakan Army (AA), as a terrorist group, state-run media quoted an order of Anti-Terrorism Central Committee as saying on Tuesday.

With the approval of the government in exercise of the Anti-Terrorism Law, the committee Monday declared the AA as a terrorist group as they have been committing terrorist acts.

"These terrorist acts of the United League of Arakan (ULA)/ Arakan Army (AA) have caused serious losses of public security, lives and property, important infrastructure of the public and private sector, state-owned buildings, vehicles, equipment and materials," the order said.

Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Ministry also issued an order of declaring the AA and its affiliated groups as unlawful association in accordance with the Unlawful Association Act late Monday.

The order said that objectives and acts of the ULA or AA, its affiliated group and its related individuals have constituted a danger to law and order, peace and stability of the country and public peace. Enditem
