Nigerian governor tests positive for COVID-19

LAGOS, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The governor of northeast Nigeria's Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, has been confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus.

Mukhtar Gidado, the governor spokesperson, made this announcement through a statement reaching Xinhua on Tuesday.

This comes a day after the governor took the test after he had contact with the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who was confirmed to have been infected with the virus.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi,urged Lagos residents to continue to take responsibility by practicing social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus. Enditem
