Portugal's suspension of air links with Italy gets another 14 days

LISBON, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Portuguese government announced on Tuesday that the suspension of air links with Italy will be extended for another 14 days due to the serious COVID-19 situation in that country, Lusa News Agency reported.

"In view of the intensity of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and of Internal Administration, decided to extend the order of March 10, which suspended flights from all airlines, commercial or private, to or from Portuguese airports or aerodromes to all regions of Italy," noted said a government statement, quoted by Lusa.

The new order of extension takes effect at 00:00 on Wednesday and runs until April 7.

COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus, has infected 2,362 people and killed 33 others in Portugal, according to the latest from the health authorities. Enditem
