German shares gain 1.79 pct Wednesday

FRANKFURT, March 25 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 173.69 points, or 1.79 percent, to close at 9,874.26 points.

Aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 13.80 percent. Sportswear and equipment maker Adidas and global internet technology and financial services provider Wirecard gained by 8.59 percent and 7.82 percent respectively.

German airlines Lufthansa, chemical group BASF and multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement were the top three losers among the blue chips, by falling 3.25 percent, 2.00 percent and 1.98 percent respectively.

Multinational software corporation SAP was the most-traded share with a turnover of 557.4 million euros (603.5 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
