2 more COVID-19 cases confirmed in Laos

VIENTIANE, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Laos has detected two more confirmed COVID-19 cases, with its total number rising to eight, Lao official told media at a press conference on Saturday afternoon in capital Vientiane.

According to Lao Deputy Health Minister Phouthone Moungpak at the press conference, the two more COVID-19 cases include a 50-year-old woman in northern Lao hub of Luang Prabang. She is the wife of a driver who is one of infected case announced on Thursday.

Another is a 18-year-old man, living in Lao capital Vientiane, who had a close contact with the third infected case announced on Wednesday.

Five cases are treated in the designated hospital, the Mittaphab Hospital (150 Hospital), in Vientiane capital. Another three cases are treated in a local hospital in Luang Prabang province.

All of them are not in serious condition and the treatment is going well, said the Lao official.

Laos has detected the first two confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, Moungpak said on Tuesday. The first two cases are a female tourist guide and a male staff member of the Crown Plaza Vientiane hotel.

The third, announced on Wednesday, is a 26-year-old businessman in Vientiane, and a friend of the Crown Plaza Vientiane hotel staff. Enditem
