Algeria reports 45 new COVID-19 cases

ALGIERS, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Algeria on Saturday announced 45 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number to 454 in the country.

Djamel Fourar, head of the COVID-19 Detection and Follow-up Commission, told reporters that the health authorities have also registered three new death cases, bringing the death toll to 29.

Fourar said that the new death cases were recorded in three different provinces, including a 65-year-old man in the capital Algiers who returned from Saudi Arabia, a 84-year-old man in Medea province who had contact with his dead nephew, and a 45-year-old man who returned from Spain.

He added that 31 patients have been cured.

A plane carrying Chinese medical aid arrived on Friday at the International Airport of Algiers, as part of the Chinese efforts to help combat the spread of the novel coronavirus in Algeria. Enditem
