PHNOM PENH, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's Ministry of Health (MoH) announced in a statement on Sunday that one more person was tested positive for COVID-19, raising the total number of the confirmed cases in the country to 103.

The new patient is a 36-year-old Cambodian woman living Palelai village in Poipet City in northwest Banteay Meanchey province, the statement said, adding that she is a private company employee.

The statement did not say where the woman was infected the virus from.

"She has been put under quarantine for treatment at the Banteay Meanchey provincial referral hospital," MoH's secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said in the statement.

Cambodia has so far recorded a total of 103 confirmed cases of the virus, she said, adding that 21 of them have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Meanwhile, Vandine called on people not to use COVID-19 rapid test devices to test for the virus by themselves, saying that the results would not be accurate.

"Currently, many types of COVID-19 rapid test devices have been manufactured, but so far, no any type of the COVID-19 rapid test devices has been accredited by the World Health Organization for its accuracy and effectiveness," she said.

The spokeswoman said that anyone promoting and selling COVID-19 rapid test devices without a permit from the Ministry of Health will face prosecution.

She said that currently, only the National Institute for Public Health and the Pasteur Institute of Cambodia can provide lab tests for COVID-19 with accurate results. Enditem
